Privacy Policy
Trail Status Pro ("the App") helps mountain bikers and hikers track the open/closed status of trail systems they care about. This page describes what data the App collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We never receive or store your Google password.
- Trail subscriptions. We store the list of trail systems you've added to "My Trails," your notification preferences for each, and any RSVPs you make to crew-hosted events.
- Push notification token. To deliver status-change push notifications, we receive and store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token issued by your device. This token cannot be used to identify you across other apps.
- Approximate location. If you enable the "Near Me" filter, we temporarily access your device's approximate location to sort trails by distance. Location data is processed on-device and is never sent to our servers.
- Diagnostic data. We collect crash logs and basic app performance metrics via Apple App Store Connect and Google Play to keep the app stable. No personally identifiable information is collected for diagnostics.
How we use the information
- To deliver core app functionality (trail subscriptions, RSVPs, push notifications).
- To send transactional emails about your account (sign-in magic links, event reminders).
- To improve the app via crash and performance monitoring.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising.
Third-party services
We use the following third parties to operate the app. Each handles your data under its own privacy policy:
- Google Sign-In (authentication)
- Apple Sign-In (authentication, iOS only)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (push delivery, Android)
- Apple Push Notification service (push delivery, iOS)
- Cloudflare Workers / D1 (backend hosting + database)
- Google Maps SDK (map rendering on Android)
- Apple MapKit (map rendering on iOS)
- Open-Meteo (weather data; no personal information is sent)
- Resend (transactional email delivery)
- Anthropic Claude (server-side AI classification of public trail status pages; no user data sent)
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. Once you delete your account, your trail subscriptions, RSVPs, notification preferences, and FCM tokens are permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
You can also email info@trailstatuspro.com to request manual deletion.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
